exist, or accept the responsibility for changing them." (Denis

At Water for Christmas, we've allowed the existing conditions to break our hearts and spur us to action.
* We want to join others in solving the world's water crisis, where 1.1 billion people on the planet don't have access to safe, clean drinking water.
* We don't want to accept the conditions where unclean water and the lack of basic sanitation cause 80% of all sickness and disease and kill more people every year than all forms of violence, including war.
* It doesn't make sense that 4500 children should die every day from the lack of access to clean water.
From it's inception in November 2008, Water For Christmas has raised close to $70,000--for the building of wells in desperate areas of need in Liberia, West Africa.
Hundreds of people discovered the joy of getting and giving Water For Christmas.
As we wait for the next Christmas season, we've launched what we calling the "300 Voices Campaign."
300 Voices:
In this campaign, we're looking for a simple commitment of $20 a month from 300 people, churches, companies, or businesses.
We'd love for you to join us.
A $20 contribution can give a person in Africa clean, safe drinking water for 20 years.
For $100, a family of five can have access to life-saving clean water.
For $5000, you can drill a new well to provide clean water to a whole village of people.
During this campaign, we dream of not only collectively raising our Voices at $20 a month, but also of enlisting voices within that 300 to help lead the Water For Christmas 2009 effort.
We are just naive enough to believe that we can as a growing community actually equip a whole nation like Liberia with clean water.
As Margaret Mead argued :“Never underestimate the ability of a small group of committed individuals to change the world; Indeed, they’re the only ones who ever have.”
Again, all money goes through and directly to charity: water -- a trusted and highly rated non-profit organization which moves quickly and efficiently to build sustainable clean water projects around the world. Our particular partnership directly contributes to the building and maintenance of clean water wells in Liberia, West Africa.
